The Couch Potato

Ever find yourself watching a TV commercial and you’re like haha... yea I get it. But the Commercial didn’t directly imply what you thought, you inferred the point that the commercial was trying to connect to you. Well, in paragraph 17 second to last sentence the so called "wink" technique is commonly geared towards today’s youth. The unpopular way to do ads now a days is when the view didn’t even have to think twice about what he or she saw.
Personally I find the “wink” technique a cleaver way to bring the viewer into what the merchant is trying to sell viewers in a way that they almost hypnotize the viewer so the viewer feels smart and desires to buy their product. This brings me to the science of it all. Here on this ABC show called the "Gruen Transfer" they study Advertisement all in all they also make fun of the commercials. But I think you will get the gist.

  1. The study of advertisement or psychographics is very interesting to me. I like when he says, in pg 5, "It's a science, though not a pretty one." For me personally I like to watch commercials. I like to see how each product advertises to the public and sometimes get a laugh out of it as well.

  3. I like how you referred to the technique as the advertiser hypnotizing the viewer to get them to purchase their product(s). That is a great way to put it....and not just that but it is so true. Hypnotizing them in a way that makes them relate to them and making them feel like "I GOTTA HAVE THAT." It reminds me of the commercial about the Purex 3 in 1 laundry sheets. I am certain that not all people like buying detergent AND fabric softner so....WHY NOT buy the 3 in 1 laundry sheets that releases the detergent in the washer and then serves as a fabric softner and anti-static element in the dryer!

  4. Yes i love the Commercials. I'm the guy that watches the super bowl just for the commercials. I think the beer ones are the best, the bud light ones make me laugh every time. I think commercials really make a difference in chooseing the product you want even though you don't think so. And now the advertiser's are now even now makeing there way in into facebook and myspace. Where young people see them almost everyday
